Remember how I still don't know everything about this place and I am constantly shocked? Well it turns out the Mamelukes were lazy and didn't like climbing the stairs to get to the temple mount, so they built an entire city on arches so they could be closer to the top of the mount!! What in the world?? We went to the western wall tonight and toured the tunnels underneath the wall and city!
We saw the rest of the western wall that is below ground! It went so far down! I had no idea how tall the wall really was! Only the top portion is visible above ground.
See that stone behind us?? It's HUGE! That stone is in the middle of the wall! How did they get that thing all the way up there?? Once again, I'm in shock. This place is full of surprises.
